A More Personal Side

I have always considered myself a nerd and have had interests in a variety hobbies and activities since I was a kid. As far back as I can remember, I would constantly have a sheet of paper in front of me. If it wasn’t drawing, it was writing.

I eventually got into computers, which grew my interests in technology. I was fascinated with learning all kinds of new software, some programming, and even game modding. All of that shifted my focus to art, and instead of sticking with traditional media, I was able to go digital. Because of that, I put my writing aside. I never abandoned it, I just became more focused on drawing, and it stayed that way well past my college years. It wasn’t until 2013 that I got back into writing, and used it as another creative outlet.

That’s when I noticed something — the more I kept writing, the more the pull to keep going grew stronger. I went non-stop for months, and I realized this was what I wanted to do, more than art and photography (both for which I have an enthusiasm for, but they never held on as tight as writing).

I’ve always had a passion for writing. There’s just something about telling a story that gets me excited. And, the type of stories I’ve been drawn to usually involve around friends going on an adventure. That concept is a huge core of my writing, pulling from my own childhood memories of wanting to explore and to seek out the unknown. Even in seventh grade, when I wrote an illustrated short story for a contest, it revolved around a group of friends getting lost in the woods, and eventually stumbling across a hidden stash of gold — very reminiscent of movies like The Goonies and Stand By Me.

As a result, I got serious with my writing, and finally decided to do something with it. So, I put my ideas and stories together and published them, and with that, my hope is for readers to have as much fun reading my works as I did writing them.

And finally, when I’m not writing, I can be found either gaming or messing with some piece of technology. During the warmer months of the year, I spend my weekends repairing and restoring (mostly rusty) cars and enjoying delicious barbecue. And to top of my nerd-ness, on occasion I have been known to suit up in Ghostbusters gear and attend conventions and special events around Halloween.
